Often the person being abused does not feel that they can leave the relationship because the abuser has taken control of finances and assets (whether physically or mentally), and it creates a barrier that the person feels they cannot overcome.  This usually carries on until a critical incident occurs. This guide is designed to empower individuals so that he/she will know who to call, or how to navigate a safe separation from the abuser.
